Curiosity Helped Them Hear the Gospel

10th December, 2009

This man was given rice and bananas by GFA-supported missionaries after being found living in a cave.

About 15 people received blankets, sweaters, pigs, goats and cows at a Gospel for Asia Christmas gift distribution. Even a "caveman" enjoyed receiving an unexpected gift from GFA-supported missionaries before the event.

People of other faiths, along with the Christian believers, were blessed with items and animals from GFA's Christmas Gift Catalogue.

Curious villagers gathered in front of the church where the distribution was taking place to see what was going on. The Christians saw this as a prime opportunity to deliver a Gospel message to the audience, sing worship songs and tell the people the reason why they were freely giving away gifts to those who were in need, turning the distribution into an open-air meeting!

Local reporters were present, broadcasting the event on local TV channel and publishing the story in the local newspaper the following day.

What the media didn't report, though, was that while the missionaries were on their way to the gift distribution, they encountered a man living in a cave. He told the missionaries that he had no family, no connections with anyone and did not want to leave his cave. The missionaries gave the man some food, and the look of happiness on his face expressed his gratitude.
