Villagers listen to the GFA team's message that Jesus is the answer to their problems, not drugs.
There is a desperate lack of clean water in the area where these filters will be distributed, especially among the poor families. Often, village wells are sectioned off and richer villagers won't allow the poor ones to use them.
There are several small, sparsely populated islands near West Bengal whose inhabitants are among those who will receive water filters. In many cases, the islanders' only source of water for bathing, drinking, laundry and even sewage disposal is one common stagnant pond.
In this kind of situation, the water filters will help prevent disease that would easily be caught from the pond water. In some cases, water sources may be polluted with chemicals. Using concrete and sand, the BioSand water filters remove impurities, providing water for drinking and cooking that is 98 percent pure.
The deep needs these filters will meet mirror a deeper spiritual need, one for which the missionaries who deliver the filters will also have an answer.
GFA leaders ask for prayer that the families who receive these filters will benefit for many years, and that many will find hope in Christ through this gift of compassion.
