These elderly villagers were helped by the clinic.
But Chintak knew he couldn't buy glasses. His family didn't have much, and all the money he earned at the granite factory went to support his wife and three children. He would just have to risk damage to his eyes—and the loss of his job.
Then Chintak's fears disappeared when he visited a free eye clinic near his home and Gospel for Asia workers gave him a pair of glasses. The clinic was just one of the dozens of one-day clinics that GFA–supported missionaries conduct at no charge throughout South Asia.
"I am fortunate to attend a clinic such as this," Chintak told clinic workers, "and I am immensely grateful to you, for I would never have had a chance otherwise."
Doctors from a local eye hospital volunteered their services to work at the clinic.
Close to 60 people had their eyes examined, and 30 of them had eye problems so serious that the doctors recommended surgery to correct them. Many of the patients received free medication to treat their vision problems.
Kundan Masih came to the clinic after suffering for two years with a problem in his right eye. This elderly widower had no children or any other family to help him find a good doctor, so he was thrilled to hear about the eye clinic. Kundan's condition warranted surgery, and he was relieved to know his eye could be treated properly.
The clinic proved to be a success, and now GFA leaders request prayer that even as people received treatment to help them see better physically, their spiritual eyes will be opened to a Savior who loves them and offers them eternal hope.
