Women Missionaries Face Harrasment

Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries Munay Tendulkar and Runada Vasudev are getting a lot of attention from the people who live in their village. Sadly, most of the attention is negative.

Munay and Runada are women missionaries sharing the love of Jesus with the people in a village in South Asia. However, a group of five young men are responding to their gestures of love and mercy by finding ways to make life difficult for the missionaries.

These five men mock them when they hand out tracts and often shut off the electricity to their rented home.

The area where Munay and Runada work is dominated by people who are deeply devoted to their traditional religious beliefs, which involves dutiful, ritualistic worship of multiple gods. The majority of the people are openly hostile to the message of Christianity.

In the midst of their difficult situation, Munay and Runada are trusting in the Lord for their protection and remain steadfast in their commitment to minister God's love in this place.

The women are also facing opposition from their landlord. When the missionaries lead times of fasting and prayer in their home, he spreads rumours about them, telling everyone they are not eating because they are stingy, rather than out of the conviction of their faith.

Sharing The Gospel This missionary gives Gospel literature to a woman outside her home. These missionaries work in a culture that still places many limitations on women, but gives them almost unlimited access to sharing the Gospel with other women

By the grace of God, some people have responded positively to the messages and like what they have heard and read about God's love. They are still hesitant to give their hearts to Jesus, however, because they fear the reaction of their families. They told Munay and Runada that choosing to follow Christ would be seen as a sign of disrespect to their elders, their beliefs and their culture.

Munay and Runada ask for prayer for those who want to follow Christ but are fearful. They also ask for prayer for the young men who are harassing them. They want the men to choose to follow Christ. They also ask for prayer that they would remain faithful to the Lord in spite of their trying circumstances.
