Opposition from local extremists can often slow down the process of constructing a church in an Asian village, but congregations like the one pictured here rejoice when their prayers are finally answered.
They threatened to ransack the church building if the construction continued. This kind of opposition is not unusual in many of the areas where GFA-supported pastors serve.
Pastor Jaswant's response was to pray and inform the police. He also met with two local government officials, who verified that he had permission to construct the church and assured him of their support and protection over the building project.
They encouraged the pastor to continue building, and the project resumed. So far, the extremists have not followed through on their threats.
