Floodwaters are still in this home in Haryana.
The flooding affected the entire city of Ambala and about 12 villages in that region. In one area, water rose as high as six feet. Transportation was halted as highways buckled and trains were held back due to high water.
The floodwaters knocked out electricity to much of the area. The power outage affected a Bible college and the local church administrative offices, which oversee the work of Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries in that area. Five people died in the heavy rains and flooding that followed.
Gospel for Asia Compassion Services teams immediately went to work, distributing food and other emergency aid to victims. They also took time to pray with the people they were helping.
