Two Film Teams that Didn't Give Up

1st June 2010

Film teams face many obstacles, but they often see fruit as they persevere.

One Gospel for Asia-supported film team had to carry their equipment on their shoulders into a hard-to-reach village with no roads. Another team in the same area was denied permission to show a movie about the life of Jesus in a Muslim village.

In spite of these obstacles, both teams were excited about sharing the hope of Jesus and refused to give up. And the Lord blessed their perseverance. . .

Curiosity Draws Large Crowd
Balbir Kapoor and Devrat Sarin carried the heavy film equipment on their shoulders to get to their destination, an interior village with no roads. Curiosity drew a crowd of 300 people to watch the movie about Jesus.

Sensing the crowd's interest as they watched, the two missionaries paused the movie and shared about the hope offered in Christ, then they continued the film.

"By God's grace, without any disturbance or problems, the program finished peacefully," wrote GFA's local correspondent.

One man, Jigar Chavan, approached the missionaries after the movie ended and asked them to pray for him as he had been sick for two months. He suffered from acute fever and other health problems. Although he took a lot of medicines, nothing had made him well. The missionaries prayed for Jigar and gave him some Gospel tracts to read.

To their surprise, the young man came to the local church led by a GFA-supported missionary that very next week and testified to the congregation that God healed him.

"Now he is coming to church regularly, and he even helps our brothers when they go to other villages to screen the film about Jesus," the GFA correspondent said.

Muslims Watch Movie
The village where film team members Puneet Tambe and Tanak Patil showed a movie about Jesus is large and home to thousands of people, many of whom are Muslim.

Kripal Malhotra, a GFA-supported missionary, had only recently started his ministry there when Puneet and Tanak approached the village leader about showing a movie on the life of Jesus.

The village leader denied their request, but the missionaries prayed. They continued checking in with the village leader, requesting permission to show the movie.

Within a week, the men had received permission to show the film. And the Lord really used it!

"As a result of the film show, many Muslims believed in Jesus and are coming to take part in the prayer fellowship," the GFA correspondent said.

Even though they had not yet personally embraced Christ's redemptive love at that time, he reported that many others were interested in hearing more about Jesus.

The correspondent requested prayer for people in this village to be drawn to the love of Christ. He also asked for prayer for God's blessings on Kripal's ongoing ministry among these people and that the Lord would use him mightily.
